Chosen for its recognized soothing, softening, and anti-inflammatory properties, the Centaurea cyanus L. species is organically farmed in the southwest of France and harvested during full blossom. After it has been dried in special clay ovens, the cornflower water is produced by a special distillation technique that preserves all the precious active ingredients and purity of the cornflower. After infusion and distillation, the extracted floral water is pure and safe for the care and protection of even the most sensitive eyes and face.
Cornflower originates from the East Mediterranean and grows in cultivated fields in all temperate regions. It is a plant between 10 and 32 inches high with slightly downy leaves and blue tubulous flowers.
Cornflower is traditionally used in ophtalmology and cosmetology to relieve tired, uncomfortable or irritated eyes. Its blue flowers have long been the symbol of a clear sight, "as clear as a cloudless sky".
